Making a Difference Though Awareness
In 2010, Sasha beat over 2,500 people to win one of eight places on the Vodafone Foundation's World of Difference International programme. Sasha used her Vodafone sponsored year to work for the charity PEPAIDS (Peer Education Programme against AIDS) and developed a volunteering scheme called Engage which enabled skilled volunteers all over the world to contribute to HIV/AIDS prevention and poverty reduction work on the ground in Zambia. Sasha continued to work for PEPAIDS until 2013, delivering a wide range of capacity building programmes ranging from teacher training and schools development to gender, sex and relationships education in rural Zambian communities. She continues to volunteer as a consultant for PEPAIDS from Malaysia.
Sasha believes that education is the key element in the fight against HIV and AIDS in Africa and that everyone can do something to make a difference.
